- Parts kit
- To install the roof sticker
The retrofit kit is for use within the MINI dealership organisation only.
The target group for these installation instructions is specialist personnel trained on MINI cars with the appropriate specialist knowledge.
All work must be completed using the latest MINI repair manuals, servicing manuals and work instructions in a rational order using the prescribed tools (special tools) and observing current health and safety regulations.
The sticker should be installed by two people.
After the foil has been affixed do not move the car for 12 hours and do not wash it for 48 hours.!
To achieve a good bond the car must be at a temperature of approx. 20 C. During the affixing and hardening process the car must not be exposed to direct sunlight and must be parked in a place where there is absolutely no wind.
When spreading the installation solution do not exert excessive pressure on the surface of the roof to avoid damaging it.!
Clean the roof before affixing the sticker to it. The roof surface must be absolutely dry, clean and free of wax and grease. Before attempting to affix the sticker make up an installation solution
consisting of 19 parts water and one part detergent.!
Required special tools
Spray bottle with installation solution (ratio 19 parts water to one part detergent) Needle
1. Parts kit
A Roof sticker
C Blade cover
2. To install the roof sticker
Clean the roof (1) with a cleaning cloth (2) and suitable cleaning products. The roof must then be absolutely dry, clean and free of wax and grease.
Unscrew the roof aerial from its mounting. Turn the cover (3) on the aerial mounting through an angle of approx. 45 and then lift it.
Spray the complete roof (1) with plenty of the installation solution (2).
Push the blade B into the blade cover C.
The adhesive side of the roof sticker A is covered with a printed backing foil (1).
Carefully remove the backing foil (1) from the roof sticker A. Wet the entire area with the installation solution.
Place the roof sticker A with adhesive side on the underside on to the roof. Align the roof sticker A to the aerial mounting (1). ↑
Align the roof sticker A in the centre of the roof. Ensure that it is equidistant from the gutters (1) on each side. When the roof sticker A has been aligned, move the blade B and the blade cover C over the roof sticker A to remove the installation solution. Always push the installation solution from the centre to the outside.
Wet the entire surface of the roof sticker A with liberal amounts of installation solution several times.!
Spray the roof sticker with installation solution at regular intervals. This makes it easier to flatten it and also prevents damaging the sticker and the roof paintwork.!
Do not exert excessive pressure on the surface of the roof to avoid damaging it.!
Push out any further installation solution that remains under the roof sticker. To do this push any bubbles that you can see on the surface from the centre to the outside. Hold the blade B and the blade cover C at an acute angle to the roof surface when doing this.
Only use this method if it is no longer possible to remove the fluid with the rake.!
If, despite smoothing the foils carefully you can still see bubbles in them, it is possible to puncture these bubbles.
To do this carefully push a thin needle (1) through the bubbles (2) in the roof sticker. The water in the bubbles can then by removed using a dry cloth.
