BMW Installation Instructions

Installation instructions apply only to vehicles with roof functions control panel.

Retrofit kit No.: 65 12 0 427 454 Retrofit kit – antitheft alarm system

Installation time

The installation time of approx. 1.75 hours may vary depending on the vehicle’s condition and equipment.

The vehicle must be updated to the latest I-level status by flashing before installing the retrofit. Differing programming times may be necessary depending on the production age of the vehicle and on work previously performed on the vehicle.

The installation time given does not include time needed for programming/encoding.

The total costs for the programming time should be taken into account when calculating retrofitting costs (reimbursement through warranty is not permissible).

Important information

These installation instructions are primarily designed for use within the BMW dealership organisation and by authorised BMW service companies.

In any event, the target group for these installation instructions is specialist personnel trained on BMW cars with the appropriate specialist knowledge.

All work must be completed using the latest BMW repair manuals, circuit diagrams, servicing manuals and work instructions, in a rational order, using the specified tools (special tools) and observing current health and safety regulations.

In the event of installation or functional problems, limit troubleshooting to 0.5 hours for mechanical jobs and 1.0 hours for electrical jobs.

To avoid unnecessary work and costs, send a corresponding enquiry via the Aftersales Assistance Portal (ASAP) using the technical parts support application.

Please quote the following:

  • Vehicle identification number
  • Part number of retrofit kit
  • Exact description of the problem – Work already carried out.

Do not archive the hard copy of these installation instructions since daily updates are made by ASAP!

Installation information

Ensure that the cables/lines are not kinked or damaged as you install them in the car. Costs incurred as a result of this will not be reimbursed by BMW AG.

Additional cables and/or lines that you install must be secured with cable ties.

If the specified PIN chambers are occupied, bridges, double crimps or twin-lead terminals must be used.

All pictures show LHD cars; proceed accordingly on RHD cars.

Following installation, the retrofit must be programmed/encoded with the software service station (SSS) via the path – CIP –.

Ordering information

The interior rear-view mirror E and the roof functions control panel M are not included in the retrofit kit and must be ordered separately (see EPC for part number and instructions).

Screw down branch A4, BR wire, at ground terminal X10012.

Plug in branch A3, RT wire, at PIN 3 of connector X11002 (15-pin, neutral) of fuse holder (1).

If free, plug fuse H into plug-in location F3 of the fuse holder.

Route branches A1-A2 and A10-A13 along the vehicle wiring harness as follows:

  • Branch A1, BR wire, and A2, VI/GN wire, through rubber grommet (1) on the right into the engine compartment
  • Branch A10, VI/GN wire, into left footwell
  • Branches A11, BR wire, A12, SW/RT wire and A13, RT wire, through rubber grommet (2) on the left into the engine compartment

Route branch A10, VI/GN wire, to CAS control unit (1) and unplug connector X13376 (41-pin, SW).

Plug in branch A10 at PIN 38.

Plug in connector X13376 at CAS control unit (1).

The cable routing must not hinder operation of the airbag.

Route branch A5-A9 along the A-pillar as follows:

Branches A5, RT/VI wire and A6, GR/SW/GE wire, to interior rear-view mirror E

Branches A7, RT/VI wire, A8, GR/SW/GE wire and A9,

SW/RT wire, to roof functions control panel M

Plug in branches A5 and A6 at connector X14292

(10-pin, SW) of interior rear-view mirror E as follows:

Branch A5, RT/VI wire, at PIN 8

Branch A6, GR/SW/GE wire, at PIN 9

Plug in connector X14292 at interior rear-view mirror E and install interior rear-view mirror E.

Plug in branches A7-A9 at connector X14288

(20-pin, SW) of roof functions control panel M as follows:

Branch A7, RT/VI wire, at PIN 6

Branch A8, GR/SW/GE wire, at PIN 20

Branch A9, SW/RT wire, at PIN 16

Plug in connector X14288 at roof functions control panel M and install roof functions control panel M.

6.Installing bonnet lock and siren and tilt alarm sensor unit

Install bonnet lock D as per TIS RA 51 13 100.

Plug in branches A1-A2 and dummy plug L at socket housing K as follows:

  • Branch A1, BR wire, at PIN 1
  • Branch A2, VI/GN wire, at PIN 2
  • Dummy plug L at PIN 3

Clip connector (1) of bonnet lock D onto vehicle body and connect to socket housing K.

Plug in branches A11-A13 at socket housing K as follows:

  • Branch A11, BR wire, at PIN 1
  • Branch A12, SW/RT wire, at PIN 2
  • Branch A13, RT wire, at PIN 3

Connect socket housing K to siren and tilt alarm sensor unit B.

Use hexagon nut F to secure siren and tilt alarm sensor unit B to bracket C.

Secure clip J with insulating tape as illustrated on wiring loom and fit in bracket C.

Secure bracket C with hexagon screws G at mounting points (1) below master brake cylinder (2).

7.Finishing off and coding

The retrofit system requires encoding.

  • Reconnect vehicle battery
  • Perform quick test
  • Encode/program retrofit with software service station (SSS) via the path – CIP –
  • Reassemble vehicle in reverse order of removal
