Instructions for affixing aerial
All surfaces must be clean and dry (pre-clean using commercially available cleaner).
Allow both on-glass aerial and the vehicle itself time to adjust to ambient temperature – never affix on-glass aerial to a steamed-up or damp window!
Affixing temperature (glass) min. +20°C.
Do not touch adhesive surface or cleaned glass after removing protective film.
Adhesive foil adheres as soon as it comes into contact with surface of glass and cannot be adjusted.
Application pressure: press firmly (approx. 70 N) for approx. 15 seconds.
In order to ensure that adhesion will be permanent, allow vehicle and affixed on-glass aerial to stand for approx. two hours at a temperature of min. 20°c.

The illustration shows a 7 Series vehicle (E38) model. The procedure for other models is the same.
Measure and mark (with a marker pen) dimension A (centre point of roon.
Depending on vehicle type, measure and mark dimension B in accordance with the following table:
Model Dimension Reference Point
E31 40 mm upper rear window edge
E34 35 mm upper rear window edge
E36/2/4 50 mm upper rear window edge
E38, E39 15 mm vehicle rooflining rear border
Affix on-glass aerial (1) in accordance with instructions for use of adhesives use (see Section 2).
Connect aerial cable to connection box. Lay aerial cable along vehicle wiring harness from vehicle roof to sender/receiver and secure (at top of rear-window frame) with supplied cable straps and retaining clips.

The illustration shows a 7 Series (E38) model. The procedure for other models is the same.
The aerial transmitter should be positioned vertically in order to achieve optimum transmitting and receiving power.
Secure aerial transmitter (1) to aerial base (2). Adjust position of aerial transmitter by bending it.
Gentle bending of the aerial transmitter is achieved by supporting the area of the transmitter being bent with a finger.
Secure the position of the aerial base (2) on the glass with one hand. With the other hand, hold the aerial transmitter (1) as low as possible and carefully bend until it is in a vertical position.
In the event that the internal unit (connection box) or aerial base (outside on glass) become detached or are removed, these parts can be re-affixed using the repair kit for the on-glass aerial (order No. 8454 9 405 538).
If it is necessary to extend the aerial line (e.g. if a portable telephone is installed}, use the connector (order No. 8454 9 405 325) to connect to the aerial line.
