BMW Installation Instructions
All illustrations show a left-hand drive car.
Front installation, left-hand side
Remove screws (1) and disassemble lining (2)
To prevent damage of the body finish by borings and to identify the mounting hole location, cover the surrounding area with masking tape. Then mark the hole with a scriber.
Distance 1 = 146 mm (5-6/8″)
Distance 2 = 34 mm (1-3/8″)
Mark intersection with a center punch and drill a hole of 22 mm (7/8″) diameter.
Pull off the masking tape.
Remove burrs and coat the bare metal surface of the drilled hole with zinc primer.
Pry out the prepunched 12 mm (1/2″) hole as shown with a center punch.
Remove this screw.
Install antenna in the following sequence:
1 = nut
2 = fitting
3 = rubber washer
4 = side panel
5 = rubber gasket
6 = self-locking spacer
7 = antenna
Mount bracket with shackle (1), lock washer (2) und screw (3) as shown.
Push mounting bracket on the antenna base, then tighten screws (1 and 2). Please observe the correct mounting posi tion of the antenna. When viewed from the front, the anten na telescope should be in vertical position, when viewed from the side, it should be tilted slightly backward.
Tighten the nut with special wrench (1).
Remove the screws identified by arrows, then disassemble the lining as shown and place it on the floor.
Attach the antenna cable to the antenna and tighten the screw -type connector. Route the antenna cable through the hole in the dashwall to the car radio. Secure the cable to the body with plastic cable clamps.
Secure the antenna cable (2) in the dashboard hole with a rubber grommet (1).
Insert the antenna cable plug into the car radio antenna jack as shown.
Caution: Make sure that the lower telescope section is always fully extended.
Maintenance and Care:
The telescope sections of the antenna should be cleaned at regular intervals. Then apply a thin coat of lubricant. Suit able cleaning and conservation material will be available from BMW dealers.
