22. Notes on operating
Lock up the car and rotate the keyhole in the driver’s door lock to horizontal position.
Insert the coded key into the thiefproofing lock, to activate the thiefproofing system. The telltale lamps in the driver’s door and at the rear of the car remain on for approx. 15 seconds (export vehicles: 24 hours) to show that the car has been closed correctly and the alarm system is functioning, after which they go out.
If a door or the luggage or engine compartment lids have not be closed properly before the system is activated, the LEDs will f lash. To de-activate the system, insert the coded key in the thiefproofing lock again; the telltale lamps will come on for 1 to 2 seconds and then go out again.
If any unauthorised person attempts to open a door, the engine compartment or the luggage compartment or start the engine when the thiefproof ing system is activ ated, a continuous alarm will sound for 30 seconds and the ignition circuit will be interrupted.
The code is set by turning coding discs (1,2) on the key. Each coding disc contains 2 magnets. To prevent the sy stem from being de- activated by an unauthorised person with a similar key, the complete code is divided into the owner ‘s code (3 discs) and a variable code (2 discs).
The variable code can only be changed when there is no power supply to the system (battery disconnected).
When the battery is disconnected the memory in the thiefproofing system control unit is erased automatical ly.
As soon as the recoded key is inserted into its lock, the new code is memorised by the thiefproofing system. When the key is inserted fully into the coded lock, a signal is transmitted to the thiefproofing system control unit by means of a fixed magnet on the underside of the key bit. Only after this process has been completed, are owner’s code and variable code discs scanned by the sy stem.
28 65 511
1 = Variable code (2 discs)
2 = Owner’s code (3 discs)
3 = Fixed magnet

28 65 509

28 65 510
Close the cap and activate the thiefproof ing system. When the thiefproofing system is de-activated, the owner ‘s code now remains stored in the thiefproofing system memory.
