Flat-bladed screwdriver
Rubber-headed hammer
Cranked ring spanner, 8 mm across flats
Piercing saw

1. Removing left-hand side door sill trim

Remove the spreader pins (arrow) from the spreader clips on the door sill trim.

When installing:

Insert the spreader clips first, then the spreader pins.

Lever out retaining pin (1) at the marked position (arrow) using a screwdriver. Pull cover (2) slightly to the side. Remove door sill trim (3).

Note:

Cover (2) does not need to be removed.

2. Removing instrument trim at bottom left

Turn screws (1) on instrument trim (2) through 90°.

When installing:

Make sure that instrument trim (2) is fitted correctly into retaining clips (3).

On cars with headlight range adjustment:

Carefully lever out panel (1) using a screwdriver.

Carefully remove bulb retainer (1) in the direction shown by the arrow. Detach bulb sockets (2) from bulb retainer (1).

Take out Phillips-head screws (1).

Push through control (2).

On all cars:

Remove the instrument trim.

Note:

On cars with exterior temperature display, disconnect the plug for the digital clock from the gong.

3. Removing front-left side trim

Take out hex screws (1).

Detach lever (2) for opening the front engine compartment cover.

Take out Phillips-head screw (3).

Pull off edge protecting strip (1) next to side trim (2) in the direction shown by the arrow.

Detach side trim (2).

4. Cutting left-hand side trim and door sill trim to size

Mark dimensions A, B and C on side trim (1), as shown in the diagram. Draw lines on side trim (1), then cut along them.

De-burr the cut edges.

Mark dimensions D and E on sound insulating panel (2), acc. to diagram.

Cut out rectangular section (3) of the sound insulating panel, and remove it.

A = 50 mm
B = 9 mm
C = 25 mm
D = 50 mm
E = 40 mm

Mark dimensions A, B and C on door sill trim (1).

Draw lines on door sill (1), then cut along them.

A = 30 mm
B = 23 mm
C = 2 mm

Mark dimensions A, B and C on door sill trim (1).

Draw lines on door sill (1), then cut along them.

De-burr the cut edges.

A = 115 mm
B = 4 mm
C = 4 mm

5. Installing mounting

(only on cars without delayed switch-off interior lights and/or central door locking)

Take out the Phillips-head screws (arrows). Take out the loudspeaker, and detach the cable connections.

Pass mounting (1) through the cutout for loudspeaker (2), as shown in the diagram.

Make sure that the external retaining holes (3) of the mounting lie flush against the body sheet-metal.

Insert Phillips-head screws (1) and (2) through holes (3) in mounting (4).

Tighten Phillips-head screw (1).

Take out Phillips-head screw (2).

Note:

Phillips-head screw (2) will be required later to secure the footrest in position.

Connect cables (1) and (2) to the loudspeaker.

Re-insert the loudspeaker, and secure it in position using three Phillips-head screws (arrows).

On cars equipped with a Sound System Connect the third loudspeaker cable.

6. Transferring rubber stop

Unscrew rubber stop (1) for the clutch pedal.

Screw spacer bushing (2) on to the threaded bolt with its chamfered side facing towards the floor panel.

Note:

The threaded bolt is also standard on cars with automatic transmission.

7. Attaching edge-protecting strip

Attach edge-protecting strip (1) to footrest (2) in the direction shown by the arrow.

8. Installing footrest

Attach footrest (1) to the threaded bolt.

Lightly screw on rubber stop (2) to the threaded bolt.

Line up the footrest in position, and check whether it can be installed without causing damage to wiring harnesses (3).

Important:

The wiring harnesses (3) on the various models must be run so that they cannot become damaged.

Insert threaded stopper (1) into hole (2). Lightly secure footrest (3) in position using Phillips-head screw (4). Important:

Avoid excessive trapped stresses when installing the footrest.

Take care not to damage the wiring harnesses (5).

Secure footrest (1) in position using Phillips-head screw (2). Tighten Phillips-head screw (3).

Tighten rubber stop (4).

9. Installing side trim on left and door sill trim

Fit side trim (1).

Insert Phillips-head screw (2), and tighten.

Fit edge-protecting strip (3).

Make sure that side trim (1) is lying flush against the footrest, and that there are no trapped stresses.

If necessary, adjust the setting of the footrest or carry out further alterations to the side trim as appropriate.

Fix the lever for opening the front engine compartment (1) in position using hex screws (2).

Fit door sill trim (3).

Make sure that door sill trim (3) is lying flush against the footrest, and that there are no trapped stresses.

If necessary, adjust the setting of the footrest or carry out further alterations to the door sill trim as appropriate. Reassemble in the reverse order of work as appropriate.
