Notes

To inspect the ultrasonic module (USM), the front panel must be closed and the radio must be installed.

Models without radio

Simulate an installed radio.

Function and Setting the Sensitivity of Ultrasonic Sensors

The ultrasonic module is set to medium sensitivity in the factory. Sit down on the rear seat of the vehicle and, with the as sistance of a second person, switch on the alarm system with the ignition key. To enable the ultrasonic field to be generated, sit perfectly still for at least 40 seconds.

After 40 seconds, move in the vehicle. This will set off the alarm.

If subsequent adjustment is required, use the Phillips screwdriver (1) from the installation kit to adjust the input control ler of the ultrasonic module (2). Every time a movement is recognized, the LED display on the ultrasonic module will light up and the LED display will flash rapidly to confirm this.

Caution

Depending on the sensitivity setting of the ultrasonic module, movement of air in the passenger cell caused by switching on the independent heating or ventilation sys tems may trigger the alarm.

Function of the Ultrasonic Module (DWA)

As soon as terminal 15R is discon nected, thereby earthing all other con nected consumers, the ultrasonic module is activated. This means that any movements detected in the vehicle are indicated by causing the LED dis play to light up.

Once no motion has been detected in the passenger cell for more than 40 sec onds, alarm readiness is activated.

The next movement detected causes the switch transistor in the ultrasonic module to earth the monitoring lead of the DWA for approx. one second, set ting off the alarm. After this , another minimum period of 40 seconds must elapse without motion being detected before alarm readiness can be reacti vated.

Trouble Shooting Guide

Ultrasonic module does not function.

The switch of the LED display is pressed in.

The delay period of 40 seconds has not been respected.

The earth lead of the ultrasonic module has not been connected.

If, when the system is switched on, more than three alarms are triggered by the ultrasonic unit, after the third alarm, no more alarms are triggered until the system has been reset.

Ultrasonic Unit Triggers False Alarm

  • Objects (e.g. mascots) lying in the inner space which move when vehicle shakes.
  • Sensitivity is set too high.
