1. Cable routing
In order to avoid disturbances, precisely adhere to the prescribed cable routing paths in the vehicle! Under no circumstances use so-called „Scotchlock quick-action connectors“ since they can trigger disturbances in the vehicle’s electrical system!
Take particular care when installing cables in the vehicle to ensure they are not kinked or damaged otherwise faults may arise which are then difficult to localise. The costs incurred will not be reimbursed by BMW.
2. Equipment installation
Before starting work, check the specified installation position!
Only use BMW-approved parts for installation!

2. Installing Auxiliary Wiring Harness
On BMW 518i, route the power supply wiring harness from the engine compartment to the positive terminal point for the rear bench seat.
F 34 51 358
Route the main wiring harness with the white 6-pin socket housing (A) from the centre console to the rear on the left of the rear bench seat.
F 34 51 359
Route terminal connections (A1 ,A2) to the left-hand A-pillar and terminal connections (A21 ,A22) to the right-hand A-pillar. Route terminal connection (A17) to the battery and terminal connection (A20) as shown in drawing.
Cut through the blue/brown/yellow wire of the main vehicle wiring harness and fit stop parts (A8,A9) on the one side and stop parts (A9.A10) on the other side. Connect terminal connections (A6) to (A7) and terminal connections (A11) to (A10).
F 34 51 360
Unplug wire (1) from 8-pin plug connector (2) and plug into connector housing (A4).
Plug connections (A3) into 8-pin plug connector (2) and connect terminal connections (A4,A5).
F 34 51 361
Plug fuse holder (A16) (A47) and relay socket (A12)
(K114), (A 13) (K9901), (A14) (K100), (A15) (K106) into control unit carrier. Secure terminal connections (A18.A19) at ground terminal point.
If the rear window regulators are not installed at the same time, only fit a 30 A fuse in fuse holder (A16).
F 34 51 362
Route terminal connection (A17) to the battery and secure with screw (1) to the positive terminal.
On BMW 518i, connect terminal connection (A1 7) to positive terminal point of the power supply cable in the rear bench seat.
F 34 51 328
Release hexagon screws (1) and remove contact connector (2) from the A-pillar.
F 34 65 329
Remove lock slide (1). Disconnect compact connector (2).
F 34 51 318
Connect pin contacts (2) to compact connector (1) as follows:
Pin contact B1 in plug-in slot 3
Pin contact B2 in plug-in slot 17
Pin contact C1 in plug-in slot 3
Pin contact C2 in plug-ins lot 17
3. Installing Door Wiring Harnesses
F 34 51 319
Release grommets on right and left front doors.
F 34 51 320
Pass door wiring harness (1) through the door and grommet (2) up to compact connector (3). Plug connection sockets (4) into compact connector (3). Plug door wiring harness and terminal connections B1-B2 of the left-hand door wiring harness and terminal connections C1-C3 of the right-hand door wiring harness into compact socket (1) as follows:
Plug-in slot 3 Socket contact B1
Plug-in slot 17 Socket contact B2
Plug-in slot 3 Socket contact C1
Plug-in slot 17 Socket contact C2
4. Installing Switch Combination
F 34 51 018
Press out hazard warning switch (1) from below. Carefully cut out cutout (2) and, if necessary, smooth off edges with a file.
F 34 51 363
Plug the white 6-pin plug connector (A) on to switch combination (1). Install switch combination (1).
5. Installing Right and Left Front Door Electric Window Regulators
F 34 51 036
Mark position of locking disc (1). Unscrew hexagon screw (2). Remove window stop (3). Only remove window stop (3) if door regulator and motor are supplied separately or if parts are replaced individually.
F 34 51 046
Push ring gear (1) as far as it will go in direction indicated by arrow. Fit Torx screws (2) with Loctite, fit electric motor (3) in position and firmly tighten Torx screws (2).
F 34 51 047
Move ring gear (1) into position as illustrated and install window stop (2).
The electric motor must be connected in order to move the ring gear, If necessary, connect vehicle battery and connect the electric window regulator.
F 34 51 323
Install electric window regulator (1) and secure with hexagon screws (2), washers (3) and hexagon nuts (4). Firmly tighten hexagon screw (5).
F 34 51 364
Connect plug connector of window regulator (1) to plug connector (B) of the left-hand window wiring harness. Follow the same procedure for terminal connection C of the right-hand door wiring harness. Lower window regulator. Remove adhesive tape from window and fit window in securing points. Install clips.
6. Adjusting Right and Left Front Door Windows
F 34 51 042
The window (1) must be aligned parallel with respect to the window frame and must enter the top window seal evenly.
F 34 51 043
Release hexagon screw (1). Completely raise window regulator and firmly tighten hexagon screw (1). Move window regulator up and down several times and check fit of window. If necessary, release hexagon screw (1), adjust position of retaining bar (2) in directions indicated by arrows and then firmly tighten hexagon screw (1).
F 34 51 044
Completely close window regulator and check position of window (1) in rubber seal (2)
The rubber seal must rest evenly on the window.
