BMW Installation Instructions
Technical knowledge is required.
Installation time approx. 1.5 hours, which can vary according to the conditions and fittings of the vehicle.
Fitting of the accessory front-apron should be done by two people.
Note on paint finish
The accessory front-apron is supplied primed and must be pre-treated appropriately. When painting please take note of BMW painting instructions. The accessory front-apron is made of PUR-R-RIM. Maximum temperature for stoving-paint coating is 40° C.

1/2 inch TORX socket-wrench insert T 50
1/4 inch ratchet

1/4 inch socket-wrench insert, SW 8mm, 10mm

1. Necessary preparatory work
Loosen front screws on the left and right wheel-arch trim panel in the front apron area and put the wheel- arch trim panels to one side.
If necessary take the temperature sensor out of the standard fitted front apron.
If necessary remove plug-in connector from front fog lights.
If necessary disconnect and pull off hoses for the headlight cleaning-system.
US models: pull out plug-in connector for the side clearance lamps.
The wheel-arch trim panels are to be removed completely where there is an additional fitting of accessory side skirts.
2. Dismantling the standard front apron

Loosen front screws on the left and right wheel-arch Screw out screws (1) from the impact absorbers (2) and pull the standard front apron (3) out towards the front from the guides at the side and remove.
3. Rebuild the bumper with add-on parts

Detach number plate and number-plate holder (1) and covering for towing eye with check strap (2). Pry the coverings of the front fog-light recesses (3) out of the standard front apron (4) and remove. If necessary loosen screws (5) and remove front fog lights (6) from the standard front apron (4).

Remove in rotation the retaining springs (1) of the front louver (2) and remove from the standard front apron (3). Knock out pins of the expanding rivets and pry out and remove the expanding rivets (arrows) in rotation. If necessary bore out blind rivets. Take aluminium backing (4) out of the standard front apron (3).
Unclip and remove US clearance lamps.
Only for vehicles with headlight cleaning-system. Make an aperture in the accessory front-apron:
From the inside of the accessory front-apron, cut out the two marked areas for headlight cleaning-system within the webs. Dismantle entire headlight cleaning- system from the standard front-apron and fit it in the reverse sequence of steps into the accessory front- apron.
Insert the aluminium backing in the accessory front- apron, if necessary fitting new expanding rivets from the parts kit.
Fit the remaining add-on parts in the reverse order of dismantling them.
4. Fit accessory front-apron
Insert the completed accessory front-apron into the guides at the side of the vehicle and position it.

Screw accessory front-apron (1) to the impact absorbers (3) using the existing screws (2).
Tightening torque = 42 NM
Check the clearance between the accessory front- apron and the body and if necessary adjust.
Set value = 5 mm 0.5 mm
As required, adjust the amount of clearance between accessory front-apron and body:
Loosen plastic nuts on the guides at the sides and position the guides accordingly, tighten plastic nuts again.
Further measures for adjustment of the amount of clearance between accessory front-apron and body:

Dismantle accessory front-apron (1) again and using the hexagon socket screw-key, SW 14 (2), adjust the spacer bushing (arrows) in the impact absorber accordingly. The adjustment can be made to both impact absorbers. Put accessory front-apron on again, fasten and check the clearance all round. If necessary repeat the procedure.
Put the left and right wheel-arch panels back in position and tighten the screws.

Wedge spacer bushings (1) between wheel-arch panel and accessory front-apron (2). Take washers (3) and screws (4) from the parts kit, screw them in. Tighten the screws hand-tight.
If necessary insert temperature sensor in the front apron.
If necessary attach plug-in connector to front fog lights.
If necessary attach hoses for the headlight cleaning system.
After fitting the accessory front-apron, the front fog-lights are to be adjusted.
