Rear-seat covers BMW Design for BMW 3 Series 4-door, Convertible (E36/4/C)

If fitting is done in the workshop, the fitting instructions are to be handed to the customer.

1/2″ ratchet spanner with hexagon spanner socket SW 10
Screwdriver

General Notes

The supply kit for the seat covers includes a folding stick. This folding stick assists in the covering of the seats with the seat covers.

Notes on care

Flocked velours:

These covers should be cleaned only with clear water and a cloth or a brush.

Flat woven fabr ic:

These covers can be was hed with customary detergents in the washing machine at up to 30° C.

Safety notes

The fitting of the seat covers is to be executed in accordance with the fitting instructions.

BMW accepts no liability for damage which occurs as a result of not following the work sequence and safety instructions . In addition, any warranty claim against BMW AG is extinguished in the event of improper fitting and handling which diverges from the fitting and operating instructions.

1. Model with head rests at rear

Vigorously pull headrests upwards out of the seat back.

Now put the cover on the headrest s so that the one­ piece cross flaps (1) are located in the direction of travel. Now attach rubber band (2) tightly and close the Velcro fastener (3).

Note

In the convertib le the rear headrests may not be covered for reasons of safety.

2. Dismantle and cover rear-seat bench

In the convertible, before the rear-seat bench is dismantled, the centre armrest (1) must be pulled out; the catch (2) is opened and the centre armrest is then taken out

4-door and Convertible

Lift the rear-seat bench (1) out of the holders in the direction of the arrow and remove it from the vehic le.

Convertible

Put the seat cover (1) on the bench seat (2) and adjust it to the contours. On the rear side of the bench seat (2), with the help of the rubber bands (3) pull the cover (1) tight and hook it on.

Note

Hook the rubber bands (3) in such a way that the fastening clamps (4) of the bench seat are not obscured.

4-door model

Put cover (1) on the seat bench (2) and adjust it to the contours. On the rear of the bench seat (2), with the help of the rubber bands (3) pull the cover (1) tight and hook it.

Note

Hook the rubber bands (3) in such a way that the fastening clamps (4) of the bench seat are not obscured.

3. Dismantle rear-seat backs

4-door and Convertible

Unclip the rear-seat backs ( 1) on both sides and remove them in the direction of the arrows from the vehic le .

Put cover (1) on the rear-seat back (2) and adjust to the contours. Close with the Velcro fasteners (3).

Note

Care must be taken to see that the mounting clasps are not covered by the rubber bands or Velcro fasteners.

4-door model

Put cover (1) on the rear-seat back (2) and adjust to the contours. Close with the Velcro fasteners (3).

Note

Care must be taken to see that the mounting clasps (4) are not hidden by the rubber bands (3).

5. Dismantle centre armrest

Only 4-door model

To dismantle the centre armrest (1), undo the screws (2) and pull out the centre armrest (1).

6. Cover centre armrest

Convertible

Put cover (1) on the centre armrest (2) and adjust to the contours. Close the cover (1) with the zip fastener (3).

4-door model without can holder

Put cover (1) on centre armrest and adjust to the contours. Using the tightening straps (3), draw the cover (1) tightly on to the Velcro surfaces.

4-door model with drawer

Put cover (1) on the centre armrest and adjust to the contours. Close the cover (1) using the Velcro fasteners as shown in illustration F 36 82 760.

Note

Care must be taken to see that the recess (2) of the drawer (4) is not covered.

7. Fitting note

Re-install the rear-seat back, rear-seat bench, and headrests if present, in the vehicle in the reverse order of disassembly.
