Boot partitioning net BMW 3 Series touring (E36/3)

Installation time approx. 1.5 hours, which can vary according to fittings and condition of the vehicle.

Fitting notes

The work on the roof lining is illustrated for the left side of the vehicle. Work on the roof lining on the right-hand side is to be carried out as a mirror image.

Required tools and auxiliary materials

Philips screwdriver
1/4 inch ratchet
1/4 inch extension
1/4 inch socket wrench insert SW 10 mm
Water-soluble marker
Blade knife
Scissors
Adhesive tape

1. Necessary preliminary work

Disassemble rear-seat bench
Disassemble sill strips left and right
Disassemble floor covering at the heel plate
Disassemble C-pillar trim left and right
Disassemble removable interior boot lid
Cut out templates

2. Install suspension hooks

F 36 51 541 ZS

Place template A (1) on the left side of the roof lining, exactly at the B-pillar trim (2) and the grab handle (3) (see arrow). Mark the area (4) to be cut and cut out with a knife.

Note

Begin the cutting from the middle and adapt to the contour of the suspension hook.

Place template A (1) on the right-hand side as a reverse image and repeat the cutting out task.

Insert suspension hooks (1) in cut-out area (2) on left and right and fasten with screws (3).

Push in template B (1) into the trim (2) on the left side up to the stop and locate it at the C-pillar (3). Fasten template (1) with adhesive tape (4) to the roof lining (5). Mark the cutting-out area (6) on the roof lining (5) and cut out.

Note

Begin the cutting from the middle and adapt to the contour of the suspension hook.

Place template B (1) on the right-hand side as a reverse image and repeat the cutting out task.

Insert the suspension hooks (1) into the recesses (2) on left and right and fasten with screws (3).

3. Install boot partitioning net at rear of vehicle

Lay template C (1) on the left reverse side of the floor covering (2), smooth out the floor covering (2) on an even surface, align (arrow) template C (1) and as shown in the illustration cut the insulating mat (3) with a pair of scissors. Align the template once again, mark the area to be cut out (4) and cut it out.

As a reverse image lay template C (1) on the right reverse side of the floor covering (2), cut the insulating mat (3) and cut out the recess (4) in the same way.

Re-install the floor covering in the vehicle.

Introduce the bracket for the boot partitioning net (1) into the recess (2) of the floor covering (arrow) and insert into the holding fixture (3).

Tightly screw the bracket for boot partitioning net (1) with plastic nuts (2) to the stud bolt (3). Then fit the bracket for the opposite side.

Re-install trim, sill strips and rear-seat bench.

Turn the brackets (2) upwards.

Place the boot partitioning net (1) on the brackets (2) at points marked (arrow) and press downwards until the locking device audibly engages.

4. Remove boot partitioning net

Press locking device (1) upwards and take boot partitioning net (2) out of the holding device.

Turn brackets downwards once again.

5. Mount partitioning net on the removable interior boot lid

Undo screws (1) and lift off cover (2) of the removable interior boot lid (3).

Note

The cover (2) is no longer required.

Introduce the partitioning net (1) into the guide (arrow) of the removable interior boot lid (2) and press downwards until the two locking devices (3) audibly engage.

Install removable interior boot lid with partitioning net (1) into vehicle (see arrow) . Draw out partitioning net and hang it onto the suspension hooks.
