BMW Installation Instructions
Intended for use in BMW dealer organisation only.
Installation time approx. 1 hour which can vary depending on the condition and equipment of the vehicle.
Knowledge of the body electronics is required.
These installation instructions only apply to vehicles which are equipped with an on-board monitor radio and have a navigation system for Japan retrofitted.
The navigation computer must have the part number 8 379 562 (replacement number 8 379 563).
The navigation computer must be replaced if necessary.
Particular care must be taken during installation to ensure that cables and wires are not kinked or damaged.

1. Vehicle Preparation
- Print out fault code memory
- Disconnect battery
- Remove trunk floor cover
- Remove left-hand wheelhouse cover
- If fitted, remove CD changer
- Remove video module
- Remove navigation receiver

3. Installing VICS Receiver

Adhere sealing strips (1) on VICS receiver as illustrated.

Remove basic support bracket (1) on left behind trunk cover. Fit plug-in nuts (2) on support bracket (3) as illustrated and secure with hexagon screws.

Fit VICS receiver (1) (antenna cable facing downward) in support bracket (2).
Attach retaining clip (3) to support bracket (2) and secure with hexagon screw (4).
Place basic holder (5) in front of installation location in trunk.
4. Connecting VICS Receiver

With the aid of the removal fixture, pull navigation computer (1) out of support bracket. Pull VICS receiver connection lead (2) from behind through the retaining fixture for the navigation computer and plug connector of connection lead into navigation computer in a free plug-in slot.
Route line (2) to VICS receiver and plug connector of connection lead next to the antenna cables into a free plug-in slot on the VICS receiver.
Secure connection cable with cable straps (3) on audio wiring harness.
Fit navigation computer (1) in retaining fixture. Take particular care that no cables are trapped.
Reinstall basic support bracket.

Route both antenna lines (1 and 2) from VICS receiver (3) to on-board monitor radio (4) (on-board monitor radio is installed behind the soundproofing mat in the left-hand side section). Secure antenna lines with cable straps on the audio wiring harness.

Disconnect pin housing (1) of existing audio line from on-board monitor radio (2) and connect together with socket housing (4) of VICS antenna line. Connect pin housing (3) of the antenna line from the VICS receiver to on-board monitor radio (2).
Secure cables with cable straps.
Reassemble removed parts in reverse order of removal.
This system does not require encoding.
